We would like to help you print a perfect document, every time. If you are providing us with the files for printing, please follow these helpful guidelines that will help us ensure your satisfaction with all of your printing projects.
One and Two Color Printing Please provide: - A PDF file of the actual document.
- A composite laser printout showing position.
- Laser printouts of each color separation; knock-outs included
4-color process Please provide: - A PDF file of the actual document.
- A composite laser printout showing position.
- Color composites
Note: If no proof is provided, we will run to standard ink densities.
Software We are able to print from files (Mac or PC) provided in Adobe Acrobat (PDF), Illustrator, QuarkExpress, Pagemaker, Photoshop, Publisher and InDesign. Reminder: Please make sure your software does not convert spot colors to 4-color process when you export for printing in one- or two-color. Please check with us before sending a file from any programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, CorelDraw or PowerPoint. Since these programs are not graphic/prepress programs, we are not always able to use them to produce your desired results.
Checklist Most graphics programs such as QuarkExpress, Pagemaker and InDesign have a function called “collect for output.” This function puts your document, and all the fonts and graphics used in it, into a separate folder that you can give to us for printing. If your program does not have the “collect for output” function, please provide us with the following: - The actual document file.
- A separate folder with all of the graphics that are embedded in your document. For 4-color jobs, all art must be changed to CMYK. In addition the graphics files must be either Photoshop .tif or Illustrator .eps formats. Photoshop .eps graphics are not compatible with 4-color process printing. Also, please “pack” your solid blacks for 4-color process (C-40%, M-40%, Y-40%, K-40%).
- A separate folder with all of the fonts that are embedded in your document.
- A PDF of your document and/or a laser composite for reference.
Fonts Although we do have many fonts in our system, we might not have yours. So please make sure you compress and send both the printer and the screen version of any fonts in your document. Please note that PC Truetype fonts often cause difficulty in printing. If we find that your fonts are incompatible with the printing process, we will first try to convert them to Mac Type 1 fonts. If this does not work, we may need to have you resend them.
Original Files Occasionally there are small problems in files which we can fix, provided that we have the original document and all of the graphics. If we encounter problems, we will contact you regarding the steps necessary to make any corrections.
PDF Files You may send us a PDF file, provided that it is saved at high resolution and the fonts are embedded. If your job has bleeds, please include the crop marks and bleeds in your PDF.
For 2-color spot printing, please ensure that the colors have actually been separated and are not in CMYK format. To test your document: create a PDF and open it. Go to Advanced on the Adobe Acrobat menu, and choose Output Preview. You will see a list of colors. Click the colors on and off to see how your document separates. If you see more than two colors on a two-color job, then the PDF is in CMYK format and should be recreated correctly.
Sending Files You may email your printing files directly to us at graphics@officeexpressnow.com. If your files are larger, you may prefer to use our FTP download service which is available on the FTP Download button on the left of this page or go directly to http://www.oeprinting.com. |
